Friends of Jesus Care and Support (FJCS) is a faith-based organization registered in Uganda in 2018 as a company limited by guarantee. FJCS exists to demonstrate the love of Jesus in practical ways, particularly among orphans, widows, vulnerable women, children, and other disadvantaged groups.

Rooted in the biblical conviction of James 2:17—that faith must be accompanied by action—FJCS is committed to sharing a holistic gospel that brings both spiritual hope and tangible support to those in need.

What We Do

FJCS works primarily in the Kinawataka slum and surrounding communities, where we:

  • Conduct regular community outreaches and fellowships, sharing the Word of God with vulnerable groups

  • Support teenage mothers, widows, and women in prostitution, offering dignity, discipleship, and practical help

  • Engage in youth outreach, prison ministry, and hospital ministry, extending care to those often overlooked

Practical Impact Through Partnership

FJCS actively seeks partnerships that enable faith to be expressed through action. Since 2019, FJCS has partnered with Encourage Ministries (UK) to respond to urgent and ongoing community needs.

Through this partnership:

  • Fresh food is provided weekly to vulnerable families and individuals

  • During the COVID-19 lockdown, over 200 households were fed in partnership with Encourage Ministries and Haba na Haba Food Bank

  • Teenage mothers are trained in hairdressing, tailoring, and catering, helping them gain skills, confidence, and income

  • With donor support, essential equipment and tools have been provided for vocational training

  • To date, over 50 teenage mothers have completed training programmes, with more currently being recruited

These interventions not only meet immediate needs but also help break cycles of dependency by restoring hope, dignity, and self-reliance.

Faith and Community Transformation

FJCS operates in close partnership with Freedom Christian Centre (FCC), under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Richard Tumwesigye and Pastor Imelda. Together, they provide spiritual oversight, discipleship, and pastoral care.

As a result of this integrated approach:

  • Lives are being transformed through faith in Christ

  • The ministry is increasingly recognized and trusted within the local community

  • Many individuals are coming to the Lord and being integrated into church and community life

Our Core Purpose

The central aim of Friends of Jesus Care and Support is to share a biblical, relevant, and practical gospel—one that:

  • Feeds the hungry

  • Clothes the needy

  • Restores dignity

  • Gives hope to the hopeless

We believe the Gospel should be seen as well as heard, transforming both hearts and communities.
